Making the game |
The Peg Game Project was the first project that Mr Sieg assigned the class. It was more so a practice assignment for us, to get our bearings. I would first start with cutting the Piece of wood I grabbed into a triangle. I would do this by using the Band Saw to cut out the dimensions, then sanding it down with the Belt Sander. I would then go and make 10 different holes in the wood, and I would then use the router to round over the edges, and give the bottom a cool wave. The project was quite easy, never really dealt with anything new, except for the Router of course

What I learned
I learned two things during this project.
1: I learned how to use the Router, this was my first time using that machine, and if I had messed it up, my project was donzo. But, thankfully I didn't mess it up like how I mess everything else up, in fact, I did better than most of the other students in the class with it, probably because I saw the demonstration twice, but still, I managed to use a new machine, and it also made my project look very good.
And 2: I learned how to use finish for the first time. Finish is one of the greatest things you can have in a woodshop, other than the machines itself of course. But it was my first time using it, and when I put finish on the Peg Game, it looked much better than it had before.

Conclusion
I feel That this project was significant because, It was generally a warm up towards the rest of the projects, It got me introduced and refreshed to the classrooms most simple machines (Drill Press, Band Saw, Disk/Belt Sander), Before I got into any new processes such as Gluing or using machines like the Planer.
