making the project
The Shaker Shelf was probably the least interesting project I did, mostly due to the fact it felt very similar to the cutting board, and the fact that Mr Sieg did....most of the project for me. But, the project did cause me to learn how to use many of the machines in the classroom. When I started I went out and got my two sides to the shelf, I cut them out with the Sliding Compound Miter Saw, which was the first time I used that machine. I would then go and cut out each of the shelves with the same saw. Then I would go and make the Shelves and sides square and to the right dimensions. Then... Mr Sieg took over. Mr Sieg would come up to me and say "hey, I wanna use your shelf as a demonstration". So of course I agree and Mr Sieg goes through on how to do the dado cuts and how to make the shelf in shape. I would then go onto trying to glue the shelf together, apparently I was not supposed to do this, so the teacher got mad and took apart the shelf, except for the one joint I actually did right. So then I would go and sand all of the glue off, and Mr Sieg would give a demonstration on how to glue the shelf together the right way. All I would have to do at that point was sand the shelf, and put clear coat on.
the stuff i learned
Even though for a lot of the project, It wasn't done by me, I still learned quite a bit
1: How to use the Sliding Compound Miter Saw
2: which Router bits are the Round Over Bits
3: How to use the Jointer
4: How to make Dado Cuts
5: Never use hot glue to make a joint between two pieces of wood
6: Never put too much Clear Coat on your project
7: Spray Clear Coat is much better than Paint Clear Coat

Conclusion
The Shaker Shelf was probably the least significant of all the projects, The only new idea's I was exposed to was the Jointer, The Sliding Compound Miter Saw, and Dado cuts. Other than that more so the same from the cutting board. I know it definitely made me like smaller projects and the lathe more than big objects, since Sanding is an absolute pain. The Clear coat is definitely not preferred over the oil like what we used on the Cutting Board and the Peg Game. But overall, probably my least favorite project.
